Upgrading Your Plan
When your free trial ends (or whenever you are ready), upgrading takes about 30 seconds. Choose the plan that fits how you teach, and your account is reactivated immediately.
The Plans
Loka offers three plans for educators, all powered by Stripe for secure billing.
Loka Creator DIY -- $6/month
The essentials for independent educators who are comfortable managing their own setup.
Includes:
- 1 Educator Seat
- 1 Learner Test Seat
- Full access to the Living Canvas
- The Living Textbook (auto-generated learner notes)
- Scheduling and booking system
- Stripe payment integration
- AI features (bring your own API key)
- Analytics and session history
- Canvas export (PDF, MP3)
Best for: Solo educators who want a lightweight, affordable platform and are happy configuring things themselves.
Loka Creator DFY -- $29/month
Everything in DIY, plus hands-on help getting set up.
Includes everything in DIY, plus:
- Done-For-You initial configuration -- we set up your account, schedule, and booking page
- 2 hours of technical support per month
- Priority email support
Best for: Educators who want to focus on teaching, not tech setup. Ideal if you are transitioning from another platform or starting fresh and want guidance.
Loka Creator Aspire -- $199/month
The full package for educators building a teaching business.
Includes everything in DFY, plus:
- 2 hours of founder-led coaching per month
- Business strategy sessions (pricing, positioning, growth)
- Custom configuration and workflow optimization
- Early access to new features
Best for: Ambitious educators who want to scale beyond one-on-one lessons -- growing a team, building a brand, or launching a course-based business.

Additional Seats
As your practice grows, you can add more seats:
- Educator Seat -- $6/month per seat. Add team members who need their own dashboard, schedule, and Canvas.
- Learner Seat -- $6/month per seat. Automatically renewed when the learner pays for lessons. If a learner stops booking, their seat subscription stops too.
Unlike educator seats (which are a standard monthly subscription), learner seats renew only when the learner pays for lessons. This means you are never paying for inactive learners.
How to Upgrade
There are two ways to upgrade:
From the Trial Banner
During your trial, a banner appears at the top of your dashboard showing how many days remain. Click the Upgrade button in the banner to go directly to the plan selection page.
From the Upgrade Page
- Log in to your Educator Dashboard
- Go to the upgrade page at
/educator/upgrade - Choose your plan
- You are redirected to Stripe's secure checkout page to complete payment
- Your account is upgraded immediately after payment
What Happens to My Data?
Everything is preserved. When you upgrade from a trial or switch between plans:
- All sessions and Canvas history remain intact
- Learner records and progress are kept
- Your schedule and availability settings carry over
- AI configuration and API keys are unchanged
- Analytics and reports continue uninterrupted
To change your plan, contact the Loka team. Your data is always preserved regardless of plan changes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I try before I pay? Yes. The 14-day free trial gives you full access to all DIY features with no credit card required.
Is there a contract or commitment? No. All plans are month-to-month. Cancel anytime by contacting the Loka team or through the admin billing page.
What payment methods do you accept? We accept all major credit and debit cards through Stripe. Invoicing is available for Aspire plan customers on request.
Can I get a refund? If you are not satisfied within the first 30 days of a paid plan, contact us and we will make it right.
Do I need my own API key for AI features? Yes. Loka uses a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model for AI. You provide your Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, or OpenRouter API key and pay the provider directly. This keeps AI costs transparent and under your control.
